World Cup 2014 Football Themed Adverts

Brazil World Cup 2014 fever is gripping the human planet, as well as the television adverts universe… and the greenYgrey world.

Hi, it’s Harry Silhouetteof-Wolfhowlonhill, with a satirical comedy round-up of television adverts inspired by Harry Hill.

Carlsberg Eternal Optimist

We’re not big fans of Carlsberg beer, although we like its home country of Denmark, and its adverts… especially when they’ve got lots of greenYgrey.

I can’t remember yellow playing a prominent part in Carlsberg adverts before the greenYgrey rebranding, but that might be because I wasn’t looking for it!?

Moreover, the ‘eternal optimist’ slogan is in line with the greenYgrey rebranding’s sunnier image.

Ian Wright even seems to be wearing green and grey with yellow stripes on the jacket, which is about the right proportions for the greenYgrey.

Nike Last Game

There is a goal feast of greenYgrey in the Nike Last Game advert, and a game to match the AusRuIcket time-travel classic Grey and its fellow Werewolf of Ozzers played in Down Under in Oz on their epic ramble across all regions of Australia. It was of course immortalised in Werewolf of Oz: Fantasy Travel by Google Maps.

Starting with Rio greenYgrey scenery, streets and stadium.

Descending into old-fashioned gloomy greenygrey, the presentation is in a greenygrey room and the clone team’s kit is greenygrey… as well as the stadium they play in.

There’s a lot more of the above examples in the search for the originals, including David Luis in a lovely greenygrey outfit I just know our fashionista suprema Stella Lagerwolf-Bruno would love. Tim Howard also plays in a great greenygrey goalie kit.

Samsung Galaxy 11 Training

A lot of the same stars and a similar theme appear in the Samsung Galaxy 11 advert that ties in with the World Cup. There’s also a lot of greenygrey, although some is debateable. Are the lights blue or green, and is the ball orange or yellow. These are the kinds of decisions that decide games.

There is no doubt that there’s a lot of grey around, and the field is certainly green.

Samsung have pulled out all the stops with an extended advert divided into different parts over several minutes. Here’s the Training and First Half adverts:
