England Win Ashes Cricket, Li Na New Year Humour

We hope that Birds of a Feather fans weren’t offended that Harry hypothesised that Grey’s Werewolf of Oz humour was better than the sitcom starring three women.

Birds of a Feather Writers

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams with a sports round-up… greenygrey style.

Yes, we thought we’d better check who the Birds of a Feather writers are, and were quite relieved to find it’s three men.

So Harry wasn’t saying women can’t be funny in yesterday’s blog. And today I have evidence of a funny woman… although she’s Chinese. Happy Chinese New Year!

Li Na New Year Humour

The direct humour of China’s Li Na, avoiding mock humbleness and grovelling thanks,  although genuine humbleness and heartfelt thanks is nice, is more in line with the Greenygrey’s, as shown in her acceptance speech after winning the Australian Open last week:

It was described as the universally accepted best acceptance speech ever on Yahoo. Even the BBC commentator seemed to like it, although it would probably have been derided in the British media if made by a lower class British woman.

And would a British woman dare make such a speech, after being brainwashed with class, sexism, capitalism and religion from an early age.

Okay, Li Na did thank her agent for making her rich, which is pretty capitalist, and I’m not saying Chinese society is perfect. From the little I know about the modern China, it seems way behind the U.K. and Europe on animal welfare and the environment, although does well with pandas; and human rights often seem ignored too.

However, on gender equality it and other socialist heritage societies, such as in Scandinavia and eastern Europe, seem miles ahead.

England and Wales Women Win Ashes

England and Wales’s women’s cricket team did show the men how to do it though, when they beat the Aussies to win the women’s Ashes.

They sealed the win in Hobart, Tasmania, where the Werewolf of Ozzers were of course chased by the Tasmanian Tigers, which sometimes looked like Tasmania‘s cricket team and other times like Tasmania’s extinct animal, after Bart Simpson‘s practical joke provoked the Tigers.

I think you’ve been very lucky to have read this quite funny blog for free, but genuine thanks for reading it too; I know there’s a lot of other things to read and do on the web.

Bart Simpson Stars in Hobart, Australia Episode

Hi, it’s Greenygrey. It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s about time for the first episode of the week for Grey’s classic Werewolf of Oz: Fantasy Travel by Google Maps comedy-fantasy epic.

After spending a week that just flew by in Taz-mania, the quackers quartet travelled to Tasmania’s capital, Hobart, where Grey met an old friend. Can you guess who?

60.  HO BART IN HOBART IS NO ART

‘Ho Bart! How’s it going dude, haven’t seen you for yonks; not since back in Springfield on the original ramble.’

Bart’s Enjoying Hobart

We’d just arrived in Hobart, and I’d bumped into an old buddy of mine from the original epic Greenygrey ramble. As you know, we’d met up with his parents back in the Simpson Desert, but Bart hadn’t been there.

Bart said he’d turned over a new leaf in Hobart, and was doing much better than on his family’s visit to Australia; when he caused a diplomatic incident that ended up on television.

He said his parents told him about our meeting in the desert, and that they’d enjoyed our reunion.

I was introducing him to the others when he fired off a catapult at the Tasmanian Tigers, before throwing the catapult to me. I caught it instinctively; just as Bart told the Tigers I did it. Bart then ran off. I was left standing there with the catapult, not knowing what to do.

My mind was made up a few seconds later when the Tassie Tigers started running toward us. I legged it in the opposite direction, along with the others.

We were soon across the Tasman Bridge and scaling Mount Wellington.

Wild Horses and Tassie Tigers

There were wild horses on the peak, and Angry suggested we jump on and ride like the wind. I thought it was a good use of his mind. We rounded up four horses, and set off just in time, with the Tassie Tigers hot on our hooves.

The Tigers gave up the chase as we pulled away, letting out one last roar before disappearing back into extinction.
