French Open – Canadian Grand Prix Satirical Comedy Sports

It was a mixed weekend for Team GG, which is perhaps fitting for a werewolf side. There was double tennis success at the French Open, but it was Red Bull‘s day at the Canadian Formula One Grand Prix.

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams, satirical comedy sports correspondent at the greenYgrey, inspired by darts legend Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams.

Maria Sharapova Wins French Open

Maria Sharapova added to her success at the Madrid Open last month, where she also found time to invent the gYgboo, with a thrilling three sets French Open final win over Simona Halep of Romania. It was her second French Open Women’s Singles title.

Sharapova celebrated with a boomerang to her family, friends and coaches watching in the crowd. She was wearing a nice pinkyorange outfit from her collection rather than greenygrey, but Roland Garros was greatly greenygrey.

Boomeranging at Roland Garros in the intense heat and wall-to-wall greenygrey they enjoyed this weekend needs practise, and this photo shows that Sharapova had been training hard for such circumstances.

Rafa Nadal Wins Record Title

Team GG’s original werewolf warrior, Rafa Nadal, won his fifth French Open title in a row, and a record-breaking ninth overall, to make him the undoubted all-time King of Clay.

Nadal beat Novak Djokovic in four sets, after losing the first one. While neither wore green or yellow, Nadal wore grey shorts and a grey bandanna, and that could have given him the edge.

They say every dog has its day, and it seems the same is true for red bulls. That’s because Red Bull got their first Formula One win for many a moon at the Canadian Grand Prix, as Ricciardo overtook Team GG/Mercedes’s Nico Rosberg just before the last lap.

It was the first win of the 2014 season for Red Bull, and they are still a long way behind Mercedes/Team GG in the constructors’ championship.
