Brazil and Columbia Win Satirical Comedy World Cup Report

Brazil won a nail-biting paw-crossing penalty shootout against Chile yesterday, and Julio Cesar, the main greenYgrey goalie of the World Cup, was the top hero. Later, Columbia beat Uruguay with another greenYgrey goalie, David Ospina, making a couple of cracking crucial saves to keep a clean-sheet and help Columbia through to a quarter-final meeting with Brazil on Friday night.

Brazil World Cup 2014 Comedy Satire

Yes folks, it’s got to the stage now where only one of two great greenYgrey goalies can continue on the dust sandy path to World Cup glory, as they meet on Friday night in the quarter-final… unless Columbia choose a change goalie kit, as Brazil’s are both greenYgrey.

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams, with a satirical comedy football report from Brazil’s World Cup 2014.

Brazil v Chile

Julio Cesar, who has lit up the World Cup making super saves while wearing one of two  great greenYgrey goalie shirts,  made a thrilling reflex save in the second half to help Brazil to a 1-1 draw, before saving the first two penalties in the penalty shoot-out.

Then his goalkeeping skills and great greenYgrey goalie kit (the grey dominant one, although they are both wonderful) might have made Jara aim for the very corner, and he hit the post to give Brazil a 3-2 penalty shoot-out victory.

Here’s some images of Cesar in action; the greenYgrey kit and bib celebrations afterwards; and last but certainly not least, a Brazil fan getting in on the greenYgreying with a World Cup winning trophy holding anthropomorphic costume hugging gYgboo:

Columbia v Uruguay

Julio Cesar will have to be on his best form on Friday, as Columbia have been one of the best teams in the World Cup so far.

James Rodriguez starred in their 2-0 win over Uruguay last night, with his first of two goals especially good; but at the other end David Ospina made a crucial couple of saves to deny Uruguay a way back into the game in the last quarter.

After Columbia’s reserve goalie Mondragon made greenYgrey gYgboo history in their last group match, here’s Ospina making the first of his super saves:

Let the greatest greenYgrey goalie kit win on Friday…

Satirical Saturday Sports Round-Up with Darts, Football and Motor Racing

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams, satirical sports correspondent at the Greenygrey. I’ve got some great greenygrey sports news today, to get your sporting Saturday kicked-off to a chaotic comedy start.

Phil Taylor World Darts Success

As regular readers know, I was inspired to enter the sports world by darts legend Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams. So it was great to see the top darts player in the world over the last twenty years donning a greenygrey shirt to win the World Grand Prix title with a whitewash win for Team GG.

Phil Taylor: Another superb display

Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor beat Dave Chisnall 6 sets to 0, and won 18 out of the 20 legs in Dublin.

Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund Goalie Kits

However, the football world has continued to dominate greenygrey sports fashion. In the English Premier League, Newcastle United has a new brighter greenygrey goalie kit than last season’s greenygrey goalie kit, still worn regularly by Tim Krul for excellent performances.

Meanwhile, from the German Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund are excelling in the league, and doing well in Europe, with a great greenygrey goalie shirt worn by Weidenfeller.

The designers seem to have reacted to the increasing importance of yellow in the GreenYgrey world.

Red Bull and Vettel Win F1 Championships

And finally, congratulations to our arch rivals but respected inspirations for Team GG, Infiniti Red Bull Racing, for winning the 2013 Constructors Championships.

Moreover, Vettel also won the Driver’s Championships while driving for the Red Bull team.

Premier League Meeting of Greenygrey Goalie Kits

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams, comedy-satire sports correspondent at the Greenygrey. As reported in the sports section of this very blog early football season, Reading FC are playing with a greenygrey goalie kit in the English Premier League this season.

Newcastle Goalie Kit

Since then, through my intrepid research, we have noticed that Newcastle are also playing with a greenygrey goalie kit. This darker greenygrey version  is Newcastle’s away goalie kit.

 Newcastle v Reading

The two greenygrey goalie kits could have met on Saturday, when Newcastle played Reading, but Newcastle played in their home kit, with the goalie kit grey and blue.

Reading wore their greenygrey goalie kit and won a surprise 2-1 victory.

Newcastle and Reading Seasons

Although we could claim the greenygrey goalie kit played a decisive role in Reading’s victory, we don’t think it played any part really.

We also don’t think the greenygrey goalie kits have played a part in Newcastle and Reading being in the lower half of the league.

Reading were expected to struggle this season, while Newcastle have had multiple outfield injuries. The goalies have been on form for both teams, and done the greenygrey goalie kits proud.

Meeting of Greenygrey Goalies

Following a sudden burst of super-intrepidness, the fact that it’s the second half of the Premier League now, and Newcastle’s greenygrey goalie kit is the away one, set me off in search for images from the Reading V Newcastle game earlier in the season.

And lo and behold, there was a meeting of the greenygrey goalies in the Premier League that day, September 29th, 2012:

Sorry to bring the news so late, but better late than never! I was still recovering from all the summer of sport coverage at the time!!

The game ended 2-2, so not a classic day for the greenygrey goalies, but quite fitting and nice that it ended all square.

Greenygrey in Premier League sponsored by Pricey Ethical Supermarket

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams, now fully recovered sports correspondent at the Greenygrey after the incredible summer of Olympic sport.

Greenygrey Goalie Kits in Premier League

Last season, Rob Green helped West Ham to promotion from the Championship to the Premiership wearing a glorious greenygrey goalie kit. Green moved on in the summer, and West Ham have changed strip, but the Greenygrey will play in the Premiership thanks to Reading FC, which has opted to kit out their goalies in this wonderful greenygrey combo this season:

It is fitting that they are sponsored by Waitrose, as the supermarket chain has a greenygrey colour combo logo layout design:

Disclaimer: The Greenygrey has received no payment for product placement by either Reading FC or Waitrose.

Germany’s Euro 2012 ends in Chaos

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams. Germany failed to heed the lessons from the Greek game, when our science expert, Stephen Wolfing, hypothesised that their decision to kit their goalie, Neuer, out in bright orange instead of subdued greenygrey had resulted in a goal bonanza; including Neuer letting in two goals for the first time in the tournament.

Italy v Germany Shock Chaos

The Italy v Germany game started to form, with Germany having most of the early possession, and a few chances.

But then Italy broke into the German half, and before the brightly coloured Neuer had made a save, Balotelli seemed to spot him moving to the left, and headed the ball into the opposite corner.

Lighthouse Goalie Kit Ends Greenygrey Hopes

Then a little while later, Balotelli beat the offside trap, and seemed to use Neuer like a footballing lighthouse, sending the ball well wide of the stationary goalie and into the top corner.

The game ended 2-1 to Italy, so the last chance of greenygrey playing a foreground part in the final seems to have been ended with off-the-field decisions, rather than the greenygrey being given the chance to shine… in a subdued way…!

But as the above photo shows, greenygrey is always a background part of football pitches and stadiums.

Euro 2012 Chaotic Chaos Theory Round-up

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams. It sure seems a long time ago when I last reported on Euro 2012. Why, as I remember it we were hoping for an all-greenygrey goalie quarter-final between the two Gs: Germany and Greece.

Euro 2012 Quarter-Final Chaos: Germany v Greece

Chaos in the German goal as un-greenygrey goalie beaten to the ball in rare Greek attack.

We were expecting the two greenygrey goalies to provide a very normal game, with perhaps one or two goals. But then the German goalie was kitted out in bright orange. This resulted in a six-goal thriller, with the German goalie leaving in two goals for the first time in the tournament. I was at a loss to explain how all that happened, so I asked our resident science expert, Stephen Wolfing; he thought it looked like the butterfly effect of chaos theory:

‘The butterfly effect of chaos theory proposes that a small change in one place can result in large differences to a later state, and I think that is what happened in the Germany v Greece quarter-final. Germany decided to kit their goalie out in orange, and that small change created chaos in the later game.’

Wow, thank you Stephen, for your clear and concise explanation. I had not imagined it would be so simple, and yet quite complex at the same time.

England v Italy: Did England Pay for non-Greenygrey Goalie Kit

The other quarter-final with a greenygrey interest was England v Italy; well, it was until England decided to send poor Joe Hart out in the all red kit instead of the greenygrey.

Hart seemed to be like a red rag to a bull as the Italians charged his goal time after time. And then, in the penalties, Hart was unable to save any.

Would he have done any better in greenygrey. Not even chaos theory can answer that one…!
