Love Island Hayley’s Socratic Intelligence: Zero to Hero

After trying to promote working-class/women-AAW/blondes over the last thirteen years I thought Love Island‘s Hayley was a disaster when I first saw her clip from on the show; an adult on television not knowing the difference between UK cities, countries and continents.

Hail the Enlightened Hayley

However, when I first saw her interviewed, she seemed to stand up to Piers Morgan quite well, and then she spoke well on This Week. I don’t know if she decided herself, or had received good advice, but she said she’d been studying a bit since leaving the reality show, which is quite impressive in itself with what must have been a busy media schedule.

Even more impressively to me, she showed Socratic wisdom in making it clear she didn’t think she had enough knowledge yet to make a statement on Brexit, pushed by Mr. Neil. Socrates of course said the wisest are those who know they know little.

Like Socrates, I know I still know little, and have mental weaknesses, but I think one of my strengths is linking seemingly unconnected fields and themes.

This morning I had a new example, but this blog has gone on long enough already. Do you want to know what it is in the next blog?
