Beatles Song Inspiration and Inspiring Video

Collie in the Sky over Diomedes
remembered with respect
a certain song by
McCartneyLennon
that contained yellow and green
but no grey.

Hi, it’s Howlin’ Werewolf, music correspondent at the Greenygrey inspired by legendary Blues singer Howlin’ Wolf.

The title of the first XaW Files blog reminded me of a certain Beatles song. When I found a video for the song on YouTube I also found lots of great greenygrey imagery I’m sure ol’ Andy Wolfhol would’ve admired.

While the lyrics of the song missed out grey

Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
Towering over your head

the video has lots of all kinds of greenygrey. I hope you like it… I think it’s aWsome… and there’s a little more aWsomeness after it…

You know, before he left, I’ll never forget ol’ Wolfhol telling me:

My mind has travelled far
but the telescopes overtook me.

Maybe he’s out there flying with the telescopes.

Marc Latham has books available on Smashwords and Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/author/marclatham), including previous Greenygrey’s rambles.

Alice in Chains Devil Put Dinosaurs Here Message

Hi, it’s Howlin’ Werewolf, music correspondent at the Greenygrey inspired by Howlin’ Wolf. While I talked more about the old Alice in Chains in our poetry and prose yesterday, the new Alice in Chains have also featured on this very blog.

Devil Put Dinosaurs Here

In September our blog agreed with Alice in Chains in contesting the kind of Creationist thinking that considers the Earth only a few thousand years old.

Some of the Creationists now accept that dinosaurs were real, but argue that they lived within the few thousand years that they think the Earth has been in existence.

I don’t know if any Creationists think the Devil created dinosaurs. I think Alice in Chains are taking artistic license to be sarcastic and make a point.

Alice in Chains Music Message

A point and style we agree with at the Greenygrey, inspired by the artistic license of Andy Wolfhol.

Here’s the Alice in Chains part of that September 2013 blog, with a link to the blog at the end.

Religion Should Be Personal, and By Choice

At the Greenygrey we think religion should be personal, and the Middle-East monotheists should allow Britain and Europe to continue developing in an intelligent informed scientific secular way to how it has been over the last century.

Alice in Chains seem to want this too, from their new single and video The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, which also first came to our attention on Planet Rock News. It criticises television evangelists for misleading; and profiting from their deception. It’s now available on YouTube, and is embedded here:

Ellie Goulding Burn Remix and Backing Band Name Ideas

Hi, it’s Howlin’ Wolf, music correspondent at the Greenygrey. We’ve had some great colourful backing groups, such as Cee-Lo Green‘s Scarlet Fever and Patti Labelle‘s The Bluebelles, but there’s been no greenygreys yet.

Ellie Goulding and The Greenygrey

It looks like Ellie Goulding is backed by the Greenygrey in this photo for her Burn song. Although the Greenygrey is only one half of the backing of course, sharing the duties with the Pinkypeach. Maybe it’s more Ellie Goulding and the Pinkypeach Greenygrey?

However, there’s no pinkypeach in this At Dawn We Rage remix; while the greenygrey of the Ellie Goulding backdrop has been remixed into a sea pool.

Brian May of Queen an Animal Advocate

Hi, it’s Howlin’ Wolf, music correspondent at the Greenygrey. I was delighted to see on Planet Rock News that Brian May wants to be remembered first and foremost as an animal advocate. He is quoted as saying in an interview with the Sunday Times:

“When I’m gone, people will no doubt remember me for Queen, but I would much rather be remembered for attempting to change the way we treat our fellow creatures… I suppose I’ve lived a crazy life, and watching wildlife brings back a sense of tranquility… People know about the astrophysics, but I love gardening, too, and I’ve always been passionate about the welfare of our wonderful British wildlife.”

Here’s Brian doing a great impression of our very own Grey:
