New and Last of Trilogy Folding Mirror Poetry Book

After telling readers they should only buy the print book if they really want to read it; due to paper/wood concerns; I again turn normal publicity on its head by declaring my new book not as good as its predecessor, the very excellent 242 Mirror Poems and Reflections.

While that was filled with optimism this is more dystopian; the end of my use of the Folding Mirror form; but contains a few classic poems and they look nice in their Folding Mirror shapes. They have all been published on this website over the last decade, in line with the freedom of information ethos I’ve worked with.

I also kept the prices at their minimums allowed by Amazon and free on Prime; and you can take out a free month’s trial.

Thanks to everybody who has contributed to the poetry and this site over the last 15 or so years. The reason then was to try to make a difference, and that song’s still the same. I was a realist then, and thought I was only slowing down our decline rather than saving us; and recent events have shown how powerless we are; but I’m less inclined now to feel despair!

poetry pretty Facebook 5

Nice for no reason in any season, summer has it all, elevated to great heights before precipitous fall, recoiling winter to spring

Dead rain don’t kill, without rain won’t grow;
ground grows thirsty;
thirty my point of no return, at fifty learnt silence is fun!

Flooded brain can’t change, chained rain, washing life away, railroad track oblivion, horizon destination, no stops, sleeping lots

Feeling heavenly high notes,
see sunlight lighten dust motes,
memories of last year leaves photosynthesising raw connotes

We’ll never naturally fly, on wings of evolution,
but we can glide or drop, on constructed substitution,
bird’s eye view solution

The above Facebook 5 were written to keep poetry alive…
and for colourful backgrounds on Facebook!

new deep mind small poems

Here’s five small poems I posted on Facebook. The first two followed on from last week’s Mazzy Star musing; the third was mused by Annicke Shireen’s Release You song/video, and the last two today were just because I was posting this, and had just had a nap; so thought I may be able to dive down into my mind and stay down long enough to fill up a Facebook word limit for a colourful background!

Last week

Sinking so deep into sky, birds imagine I fly by,
showing me thermals, where a mind can rise,
tipping a wing, future will bring…

Wake up to wind down, slumberous sea,
floating flotsam, jetstreaming jetsam,
diving deep as can be,
seeking poetic pearls of wisdom..

All that die↓, Earth body returned;
All that fly↑, Sky spirit freed;
All that why?, Mind used as should be.

Today

Only dare dive deep, with head full of sleep,
coral’s bleaching, still reaching,
for those that fit; or have wit; reversing it ←

Traverse to surface, sunshine reimburses serotonin, half-baked drying thoughts on rocks;
seagulls steal shiniest, leaving least!

superbowl special: 5 poetry shorts

Human shell,
hell to endure,
hard to pure,
how to be sure,
when metamorphosis over?

pure as the driven snow,
deep down dancing crow,
pineal gland contains nature to know

Could be making celebrities/politicians look good,
but rather make us look bad,
for we are all human,
and that makes me sad!

Never promised a rose garden;
to be a great guardian;
a musketeer D’artagnan:
one for all and all for one;
just for greenYgreylien!

The world is not enough, for 10 billion of us, fighting for survival, by digging deeper holes, core, shore up… superbowl!

Above first posted on Facebook, along with lots of current affairs and a little music and science.

This is how this small poem developed to fit a colourful Facebook background; the editing fits with the poetry advice I remember reading, to take out all unnecessary words, so that everything is vital.

  1. As my generation ripened and matures we may think the orchard ages with us, but we are not trees, and other fruit will follow, as we sprouted from seasons of yore.

Winter Solstice Month Away Means mistYmuse Week Day

The way I see sunrays sweetly sing, and songbirds softly shine, I think it must be… mistYmuse week…

New Mirror Poem from Writer Genius Wordsmith

I started having these ideas last night, so they would have been philosotea if I’d drank tea at tea-time, but I didn’t drink it yesterday, and just had a couple of coffees, as the second one was a bit late. I was listening to a new album by the Spacelords, and think it helped my mind rise, as Goldray did last year with their POPtastic (PinkyOrangePurple) Rising record.

Goldray - Rising (2017)

A new band to me, The Spacelords also had a great greenYgrey world cover for their Liquid Sun album.

Too Late for Managenius

With lots of talk about football manager genius this week, and having created my wrIus writer/ing-genius word for myself (and others who follow, or that have already been) – such new words combining parts of two others are called blends according to the Oxford Dictionary – I thought last night I hadn’t heard managenius used. So I looked it up, and think I was right about a football context, but it has been used by a French management consultancy.

I also had a few ideas for new Folding Mirror poems, or parts of the same one:

double negative fm
can tell badness of others as side with dark side (written about in my bipolarity poetry)
interpret my behaviour from wrong basis

I started off with the idea of writing it this morning, in a state of complete coffilosophy, although the spirit of philosotea. It ended up being a little different, but with some similarities, leaving the door open for another poem or two from the ideas above.

The title was inspired by an article I read this week about chimps, and how they share our dark side, suggesting an evolutionary link. I loved chimps when I was young, mostly inspired by the PG Tips advert I think, so I’ve been disappointed to see they’ve got a dark side, but accept it. However, the good news of chimps’ similarity to humanity is that on this year’s series of Animals With Cameras a chimp was shown washing its hands, cleaning its teeth and thoughtfully weaving together a nest from leaves (clip available on website above – don’t know if available outside U.K.).

I laugh to myself because I think a lot about other things while zoning out to the television, even if the programme’s interesting; I think down to Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), but don’t know how far I am on the spectrum? I often have to rewind programmes having missed a few minutes, as I’ve written about before, and included in my poetry.

That’s one of the reasons why I consider it dangerous to be around one-dimensional people in the new ‘Big Brother’ age!

242 Mirror Poems and Reflections by [Latham, Marc]

News Update with Poetry and Literary Nonsense

Hi, it’s Wolf Whistzer, with a wolf whistle stop tour of the Greenygrey News.  There was a yin zen yang new Folding Mirror poem about the balance of night and day, light and dark, by ol’ partner Marc Latham on fmpoetry yesterday. Here it is:

Changing of the Guard
duel at dawn
between night and day
light always emerges
with seed of moon
Yin zen Yang
sun leaves evening all
dark envelopes sky
in the second leg
of cosmic balance

New Werewolf of Oz

And more importantly for us, our other ‘alf Grey posted a new blog about its epic ramble on the Werewolf of Oz. We’ve imported it into the Greenygrey world, and without further ado, here it is:

Sky Show Leads to Swan Lake Swansong

As we were preparing to set off I thought I heard a commotion out at sea, but when I looked around the ocean was calm.  None of the others seemed to have noticed anything, so I kept it to myself.

Bending Around Bendalong to Swan Lake Mirror

The moon had risen by the time we reached the Bendalong peninsula, and the moonlight was invaluable as we bent our route around Bendalong for a long time.

We reached Cudmirrah at the entrance to Swan Lake as crepuscular rays streaked up into the bluing sky, announcing the imminent arrival of the new day’s sun.

Green Ray and Ancient Ballet

I thought I saw a green ray above the sun as it rose; was it a sign from Green, or the rare optical phenomena I’d once read about.

Entering Swan Lake via Cudmirrah, it reminded me of the classic ballet, and I thought that its epic proportions mirrored my own epic ramble.

Green Thoughts lead to Swan Song

Those two last thoughts seemed to merge into one when I next thought that it would be more like Green to compare itself to something so grandeur.

After so much thinking early in the morning I half wished I was back in human form so I could neck a few Swan lagers, instead of singing the bottlenose blues!
