Portugal Algarve and Lisbon Photos

Marc Latham’s travel25years blog has had some great greenygrey photos from his Everest view trek recently, including a momentous battle between a tarantula and pompilid (like a giant hornet), so I thought it was time to catch up with his photographic travel memoirs from his time in Portugal, which followed on from my last such blog from Barcelona.

Portugal Travel Photos

Hi, it’s Baron Wolfman, head honcho at Greenygrey Creation in the absence of the legendary Andy Wolfhol. Yes, I do believe that the last time I posted greenygrey photos not featured on the t25y site or the TravelThruHistory site was from Marc’s time in Barcelona.

As the blog runs backwards, the next stop was two years before, when Marc visited Portugal in 2009. Here’s some great greenygrey photos from a mostly yellowyblue land:

Mirror Poem about Summer Photos in Winter

Marc Latham’s latest Folding Mirror poem was inspired by posting Portugal summer photos on the travel25years website this morning during stormy winter weather in the U.K. It is also winter in Portugal now of course, but the photos are still summer.

Loved Moments Caught in Time, Helps to Loosen Winter Grip

golden warmth captured on film
feeling the heat, refreshing the swim
walking with short shadow
sun’s cool you on sizzling floor
remembering sights that inspired photos
sheer cliff faces falling to sandy shores

photos more than pictures, memories stored in mind

travelling back in time helps look ahead
navigating winter hazards like mapsA-Z
human season cycles never stop spinning
like moon’s sideways grinning
savour the cold, only passing through
clouds under sky always blue

Euro 2012: Portugal v Czech has Greenygrey Twist

Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams, back on sports howling form after a day off for Midsummer’s Day. And what a greenygrey Midsummer’s Day it was!

Greenygrey within the Purpleygrey

I thought I wasn’t going to be called into action for the Portugal v Czech Republic Euro 2012 Quarter-Final, with no obvious greenygrey combinations apparent.

But then I saw Petr Cech was having a great game in the Czech goal, and thought I’d take a closer look. And lo and behold, although he was wearing a purpleygrey shirt, it had a Portuguese flag on it, and guess what colour that includes. Yes, if you guessed green you’d be right.

Greenygrey Twist in the Background

So, I thought that was the greenygrey connection, and Cech was going to keep a clean-sheet, but then I saw the Portuguese coaching staff, and guess what colour they were wearing: yes it was an all-greenygrey combination, and there were many of them. Here is one caught on camera from the BBC‘s highlights:

And then Ronaldo scored for Portugal to win 1-0.

I was going to end the blog there, as we’re hoping for an all-greenygrey goalie tie tonight between the two Gs: Germany and Greece, but Susie wants to add something.

Breaking News: new greenygreyism

Hi, it’s Susie Dentinfang, word expert at the Greenygrey and Countdown to the Full Moon. Couldn’t wait to bring you a new greenygreyism, as I’m off for the weekend. Martin’s analysis of the greenygreys in the Portugal v Czech Republic game reminded me of that old proverb: ‘a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush’.

The new greenygrey version inspired by the result of the above game is: ‘several greenygreys on the sidelines is worth more than one on the pitch.’

Hi, it’s Andy Wolfhol, back with the second half of the Greenygrey 2011 photo highlights.  There were too many highlights to fit in two days, so we’ve decided to extend the weekend to include Monday.  But for now, who could forget these wonders of the 2011 Greenygrey world:
