The night before I’d watched a documentary about 1000s of indigenous native women and children going missing and being killed in Canada. Many had been abused in monotheistic homes, like the British Homes children. Now we’ve got it happening to indigenous British Homes children by the new wave of monotheists! Others had been sold by their families, or pimped by men in the community. They seemed to presume the deadly culprits were white, but Canada is very multicultural now. There seems no end to humanity’s inhumanity!
mistYmuse Further Clarification
Concerning the endurance race analogy, the sun has already returned to the start point of the course, a month either side of midwinter, and now it continues on into and beyond the city.
While Y-day was the half way point in the mistYmuse, if it was to be the halfway point of the sun’s journey, mistYmuse would have to run from October 21st to February 21st, with 2 months either side of Midwinter.
However, the clocks going back at the end of October would mess around with the time, and it wouldn’t run until the spring equinox, which gives the muse its acronym: midwinter until spring equinox.

Yes, Doro was always a strong candidate, and when we read on Wikipedia that she had ditched her leather for synthetic materials in her self-designed stage clothes in support of PETA, and supports females around the world through the Terre des Femmes charity we thought that she deserves her place among greats like Harry of Blondie fame and Momsen of The Pretty Reckless.
With Doro born in 1964, she fits perfectly into the Folding Middle line linking Debbie Harry born in 1945 and Taylor Momsen born in 1993. Three generations of beautiful women and raucous rockers.
greenYgrey Rebranding Song
Although rock and metal is always at the heart of the greenYgrey we like lots of music, from blues to punk, and country to dance.
So, when choosing a song to represent the greenYgrey’s promotion of yellow at the heart of green and grey we thought that Berri’s Sunshine After The Rain was the perfect song for the new greenYgrey image… and this week in Blighty!:
Another great song was recommended on YouTube, and when I watched it I noticed there was some great greenygreying along with voluptuous vocalising in JX’s Son Of A Gun:
With Princess Kate Down Under on the royal couple tour of Australia and New Zealand making all the headlines in the Greenygrey world, rock and pop women may have felt forgotten, but they are all princesses in their own way off course.
However, Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless has emerged as the primary punky princess in the Greenygrey world after sharing a Folding Mirror poem with the Queen of punky princesses Debbie Harry.

Rock Legend Generations
As Marc Latham’s recent Folding Mirror poem linked the rock generations, Taylor Momsen also played with Joan Jett, legendary guitarist famed for being in The Runaways and her solo hits, including the anthemic I Love Rock n’ Roll.
The Runaways were strutting their stuff in California from 1975, a year or two before Blondie emerged on the east coast, but Marc Latham didn’t become aware of them until he got into rock in 1980.
In line with Greenygrey theory, they therefore preceded Blondie in real life, but followed them in the ML world.

Runaways lead singer Cherie Currie would have been a good candidate for linking the Debbie Harry and Taylor Momsen generations, except she is from the same generation as Debbie Harry.
Aah, the older generation still look in rockin’ great shape anyway, with Lita Ford of The Runaways still touring the world kicking out the jams as well, so there’s no need for another generational link.
There’s evidence of that in this video, with Taylor Momsen rolling back the Runaways years playing with Joan Jett at the Revolver awards, on a JJ solo hit:

Sport and Recreation Balance
At the Greenygrey we try and balance our postings, and be responsible. We don’t want to lecture you, or give you the idea we’re trying to restrict you, but at the same time we don’t want to push you into behaviour that might get you into trouble.

Writing about rock and The Pretty Reckless might be criticised in some circles, but there is plenty of reckless living within mainstream society and sports, but it is deemed acceptable because it is ‘official’.
Moreover, in the year to March 2013 a government report stated there were 1,680 road deaths in the U.K., 10% down from 1,870 the year before, which averages out at nearly 5 a day.
This blog features some daredevil adrenalin sports featured on mainstream U.K. television, to balance the alternative culture featured in the previous Valentine’s Day blog, charismatically presented by Love, the mixed-up vole.
At the Greenygrey we don’t want anybody to be pushed over the edge by anything we write and post, although knowing human nature we think some of you might feel like doing something silly just to rebel against that!
We also try and keep the humour within the best possible taste, as Kenny Everett once used to say, with his risque comedy.
We hope that ‘Posh Trotty’ doesn’t push us over the edge!
Speed with Guy Martin
In the first episode of Speed with Guy Martin Olympic athlete Laura Trott gave fitness advice to Guy Martin. Martin was surprised that Trott pushed herself to exhaustion in training every day.

Just before the series was announced I’d seen Guy Martin for the first time in a documentary about the Isle of Man TT race, and liked his personality of psychopathic recklessness and independent rebelliousness.
It seemed to bear the hallmarks of good psychopathy traits described in a Channel Four Psychopathy Night, with many top sports people scoring high on the psychopathy scale; along with lots of other celebrities, politicians, businesspeople and bankers.
There are also many negative traits of course. But the good traits are generally that they will take risks, and push themselves to the limit, which can be good for competing in sports and careers, but not so good for the public if they overstep the mark in business and banking.

There’s only two days left to watch Don’t Look Downon 4oD too. It focused on free climber James Kingston, who scales buildings and cranes to hang off them or walk across narrow surfaces, such as girders.
He also went out to the Ukraine, and climbed with Mustang, the most prominent climber in a bigger scene there. They said many climbers had fallen to their deaths in the Ukraine and Russia, where the craze began.
While there have been vertical-face free climbers hanging off mountains with one hand and tightrope walkers balancing above certain death for years, the everyday urban scenes of the free climbs featured in the documentary made them seem all the more hair-raising.
There were lots of great greenygrey scenes in the above documentaries, available from a Google search of their names.
Greenygreying is just a joke, so please don’t try outdoing them! Nobody and nothing at the Greenygrey would!! The greenygrey in the photos might look nice, but it won’t give you a soft landing!!!
There was less greenygrey in a Storyville documentary about a couple of days in 2008 when fifteen climbers and guides were killed on K2, the world’s second highest peak after Everest, as a few climbing teams got peak fever near the top and tried to reach their goal when they didn’t really have time.
When interviewed, the surviving climbers stressed they all knew that if they went down near the top it meant almost certain death, and that they didn’t expect the others to stop climbing to launch a rescue mission.
Debbie Harry would probably have become more of an icon if she had died young and stayed at her peak prettiness, like her heroine Marilyn Monroe, but she’s still going strong, and we’re really glad she did survive.
Some of the K2 climbers survived and some died. All knew the risks and accepted what could happen.
Marc Latham has pushed himself quite hard and had some successes.

At the Greenygrey we hope we might inspire some people to succeed in some things, but don’t want to be responsible for anybody taking risks they don’t feel comfortable with.
We admire and respect the achievements of Martin and Kingston, Harry and Momsen, but also the people and animals who live day-to-day lives, bringing up families and packs, and battling illnesses and difficulties to survive.
Mainly we’re just relaying information that’s already out there on mainstream media.
Most don’t make it to the top in music, some don’t make it to the top in climbing, and many don’t make it down, or in better shape than when they started their journey.
Where is the Love? The Black Eyed Peas asked in 2003. I was down on the riverbank, but nobody told them, so I spent ten years struggling until being discovered by the Greenygrey last year.
The Greenygrey asked the same question an hour ago, and when it found me said I should post some stuff for the humans out there, after I focused almost entirely on voles in my first post… and totally on lovely vole photos.

Hi, it’s Love the mixed-up vole presenting the blog for Valentine, as I have love coursing through my name.
Needing some quick human material I went over to the fmpoetry website to check for new poems.
Billy Joel sang New York State of Mind in 1976, and I think Marc Latham was in such a thought process when he wrote his latest Folding Mirror poem for Valentine’s Day, as it features New York singers Debbie Harry and Taylor Momsen.

The poem contains 19 Blondie song titles and two albums in the top half and middle line; and the same amount of The Pretty Reckless music in the bottom half. The former’s singles are written in green ink, the latter’s in blue; all the albums are in orange.
Atomic and Rapture are two different songs without a gap between them in the poem.
The poem kind of tells a story through the song titles, but it was mainly an exercise in constructing a mirroring poem rather than telling an original or personal story. Some of the lines mirror quite nicely.
