The Cult and Piston Tour Joins Prestigious Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame

With Halloween and Bonfire Night finished and a month and a half of dodgy weather doldrums in the northern hemisphere until Christmas I’m sure you’re all delighted mistYmuse 2019 (#mYm2019) starts in a fortnight (not fortnite!).

The Cult Sonic Temple Tour

The Cult’s show at the Leeds o2 Academy celebrating their classic Sonic Temple album’s 30th anniversary was chosen as this year’s gYg of the Year, supported by Piston.
So they have been added to the prestigious gYg rock n’ roll hall of fame, now in its second decade:

Sonic Temple: Sun King and Wild Flower

Here’s a video I took of their opening two numbers. Sun King was my favourite track from Sonic Temple, but there are many great songs in that album and others.
I of course married the Sun last year, but don’t consider myself a king; more a consort!
The Cult were my favourite British band of the late ’80s, after Rainbow and Saxon in the early ’80s.
While Guns N’ Roses were my favourite band, I thought The Cult’s Electric and Sonic Temple would have been worthy successors to Guns’ Appetite for Destruction; and that was probably why Guns poached drummer Matt Sorum from The Cult when Adler had problems during Guns’ follow-up Illusion sessions.

Rose Tattoo and Girlschool Tour Award

Tenth Great gYg Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famers Announced.

In a tradition second only to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in my mind, as that’s what provided the inspiration, this years additions to the coveted list are Rose Tattoo and Girlschool, who both played great sets at the Newcastle o2 Academy last night; three years after Newcastle’s Metro Arena was the venue for the gYg (greenYgrey version of gig) of the year.

If you want to watch two great professional bands playing classic rock and metal songs from the last forty years, they play Birmingham tonight and London on Thursday. Rose Tattoo return to the continent then for dates in Belgium, Netherlands and France, before more dates after returning to Oz.

The Hall of Fame list now has a new home after the greenYgrey left Earth at the end of Xaw Files: Beyond Humanity, and is updated below. Last year I also went to a great gig at the York Viking Festival headlined by Haerken.

Alice in Chains, Ghost and Walking Papers Tour Photos

Alice in Chains, Ghost and Walking Papers were inducted into the Rock n’ Roll haGG of Fame this week; inspired by the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in the human world; becoming the gig of the year in the Greenygrey world. They join an exalted list of great heavy rock and metal bands since the award’s inception in 2009. Here’s how the list looks now:

Alice in Chains Tour Photos

Hi, it’s Baron Wolfman, head honcho at Greenygrey Creation in the absence of the legendary Andy Wolfhol. Here’s some photos from the Alice in Chains tour at the Leeds O2 Academy. The first is of Walking Papers, with Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses fame on the bass.

The second is of Ghost, which were undoubtedly the most greenygrey of the night. Their charismatic vocalist, Papa Emeritus, sported a surreal greenygrey cape, and the lighting was greenygreyish too. Moreover, their Grucifix logo begins with a capital G! Their tongue-in-cheek conceptual image reminds me of the Greenygrey too!!

The bottom two are of Alice in Chains. They produced a great musical performance, mixing great musicianship with fantastic songs; playing a set focused on their classic tunes, with a few new ones.
