The song ‘You Are My Sunshine’ has been around for about seventy years according to Wikipedia, and as far as I know, and I guess almost certainly, the sunshine has been used metaphorically for a human.
After my historic May wedding to the sun in Gretna Green we’ve enjoyed a wonderful summer, with a long honeymoon period, a cooling off period, and an Indian Summer rekindling of the old passionate heat.
So I’d like to here and now bring you the first version of You Are My Sunshine I do believe, is introduced and intended to not be a metaphor, but is indeed truly meant for our sun; the star of our solar system; and a top ten star in our Milky Way galaxy.
I could’ve recorded it myself, but I think this version will sound better, provides publicity to a good singer, and is of course easier for me! But please imagine it’s me singing to the sun… at least once, while appreciating Jasmine Thompson’s talent the rest of the time!!
Disclaimer: I don’t know Jasmine Thompson at all, and she had nothing to do with this blog. This video was the first suggestion on YouTube when I searched the song.
There was mucho celebrando in the Greenygrey world over the weekend, as Team GG’s Djokovic and Nadal played against each other in the Miami Masters final, while greenygrey Mercedes dominated the Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams with a satirical comedy sports report hot off the press from the weekend’s top greenygrey sporting action.
It’s probably my best report since the last March 28th one, although some may argue it’s even better; greenygrey style; with that one including rugby union success, a Grand Prix first place, and tennis quarter-finalists; while this one has Grand Prix and tennis final 1-2s for Team GG.
Miami Masters Tennis
Novak Djokovic came out on top in Miami. Team GG analysts wondered whether this was a changing of the guard, but decided in the end that there’s still time for Nadal to bounce back to the top of the Team GG rankings.
Djokovic celebrated his victory in true greenygrey style:
Hamilton – Rosberg Win Malaysian Grand Prix
After Nico Rosberg won the first Formula 1 Grand Prix of the season for greenygrey Mercedes in Australia, Team GG went one better in Malaysia, as Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg did the double for Mercedes.
Last season’s champion, Sebastian Vettel, got some consolation for Team GG’s big rivals Red Bull by taking the final position on the podium with third place.
Here’s a great greenygrey photo of Hamilton driving to victory:
There was probably a lot more great greenygrey sporting action over the weekend, but the above is all I’m a-were of!
Kelly Gallagher and Charlotte Evans’s 12G Performance
Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams with a satirical comedy sports report, containing real feelings of awe and inspiration at the achievement and bravery of the Paralympic athletes.
Yes, with two Gs in Gallagher’s surname; the Super G meaning two Gs (when Green and Grey are together) in the Greenygrey world, the G of gold, the G of Team GB, the GG of Team GG, and the two Gs times two in the greenygrey colours worn by Kelly Gallagher and Charlotte Evans that makes it a 12G performance by my reckoning.
Kelly Gallagher and Charlotte Evans winning gold.
Sochi Paralympics Super G Results
There’s a lot more Super G at the Paralympics. Anna Schaffelhuber won the Women’s Super G Sitting for Germany. Claudia Loesch won silver for Austria. Laurie Stephens won bronze for Team USA, and Anna Turney of Team GB just missed out on a medal finishing fourth… at least she made it onto the Greenygrey!
Marie Bochet and Solene Jambaque did the double for France in the Women’s Super G Standing, with Stephanie Jallen of Team USA taking bronze.
Akira Kano and Taiki Morii did the double for Japan in the Men’s Super G Sitting, with Caleb Brousseau of Canada taking bronze.
Markus Salcher and Matthias Lanzinger did the double for Austria in the Men’s Super G Standing, with Alexey Bugaev of Russia taking bronze.
Jakub Krako of Slovakia took gold in the Men’s Super G Visually Impaired , with Mark Bathum of Team USA taking silver. Mac Marcoux of Canada took bronze.
Good luck to all the competitors, and I hope the Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympics continues to proceed as greenygrey greatly as the opening ceremony:
The Seattle Seahawks surpassed the greatest expectations for Team GG with an incredible 43 – 8 win over the Denver Broncos yesterday. There were overwhelmingly greenygrey scenes all around the ground, and on the pitch, and in the trophy presentation.
Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII
Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams with another NFL Superbowl satirical comedy special, today celebrating the Seahawks’ famous victory.
As the Seahawks played mainly in blue and white, the undoubted hero for Team GG was the helmet, which showed no signs of season’s wears and tears as it covered the pitch tirelessly in overwhelming greenygrey:
The pitch looked greenygrey, with the green grass complemented by a grey Super Bowl logo. It’s not surprising looking at the logo for the event:
Even the Vince Lombardi trophy they were playing for got in on the greenygreying act:
Seattle celebrated in style in the city once most famous for Nirvana, Pearl Jam and grunge. The Seahawks quickly put on sale some great greenygrey champions merchandise, including this smart sports top:
As mid-winter Christmas and other holidays approach, the latest episode of your favourite werewolf travels Australia to a Wizard of Oz theme travel quest satirical comedy epic couldn’t be timed better.
I looked around at my travel companions, and they all nodded in unison. I had not doubted them. I told Emily the emerald cork hat we would be proud to join her in the battle of Bri’s bane.
She thanked us, before inviting us to join the crowd in the cavern. She told me she thought I’d recognise a few faces.
Meeting Old Friends
There were indeed some familiar faces.
I could hardly believe my eyes when they told my mind that Digger and Aussie, two of the first friends I made on the trip, were standing in front of me.
It wasn’t until I’d hugged them that I accepted it as bona fide. After catching up with my canine cohorts I introduced them to Angry, Cathy and Elle; because I hadn’t even met them when I met ol’ Dig and Aus.
It all seemed such a long time ago now, and strange to think that I had landed in Oz all alone.
I was just getting over the surprise of Dig and Aus when there was a tap on my shoulder.
When I looked around I saw yet another of my dear ol’ friends from early in the journey: the very venerable Vombatus Ursinus. It was great to see it looking swell. Vombat the Wombat joined our circle and soon got to know everybody and everything.
Mine’s a Large One
I was about half way through telling Vombat about my journey when the walls started to rumble, and some rocks broke off. Everybody looked at the epicentre with anticipation, while beginning to take guard.
I wondered if it was a bulldozing blitz by Bri’s bane.
A hole started to appear, and everybody tensed.
As more rocks fell a paw emerged, and then the identity of the new arrivals was revealed.
Why, it was none other than Colin and Ollie, the collie collier twins from Collie.
Hi, it’s Martin ‘Werewolfie’ Adams, satirical sports correspondent at the Greenygrey. I’ve got some great greenygrey sports news today, to get your sporting Saturday kicked-off to a chaotic comedy start.
Phil Taylor World Darts Success
As regular readers know, I was inspired to enter the sports world by darts legend Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams. So it was great to see the top darts player in the world over the last twenty years donning a greenygrey shirt to win the World Grand Prix title with a whitewash win for Team GG.
However, the football world has continued to dominate greenygrey sports fashion. In the English Premier League, Newcastle United has a new brighter greenygrey goalie kit than last season’s greenygrey goalie kit, still worn regularly by Tim Krul for excellent performances.
Meanwhile, from the German Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund are excelling in the league, and doing well in Europe, with a great greenygrey goalie shirt worn by Weidenfeller.
The designers seem to have reacted to the increasing importance of yellow in the GreenYgrey world.
Red Bull and Vettel Win F1 Championships
And finally, congratulations to our arch rivals but respected inspirations for Team GG, Infiniti Red Bull Racing, for winning the 2013 Constructors Championships.
Moreover, Vettel also won the Driver’s Championships while driving for the Red Bull team.
The weekend is here
with still no were
wolf of Oz episode
so here’s the latest road
to the end of the tale
travel quest they dare not fail…
Hi, it’s Greenygrey. Yep, it’s Friday, and things have been so busy and Gremliny that we haven’t had time for an episode of your fave werewolf travels Australia with Aussie celebrities to a Wizard of Oz theme satirical comedy travel quest.
So here’s the second of the Bingie bungee bees trilogy, which includes lots of bee wordplay, as well as a famous PG Tips tea chimp cyclists tea advert from yesteryear, which we’ve included here:
Chapter 106. Bungee to Bingie Begun by a Bee
The others stirred soon after, and Angry asked about all the noise. I explained about the bungees from Bingie. I was worried Angry may get angry, but he remained calm. After seeming lost in thought for a minute, he suggested we ask the bungeeists if we could hitch a lift north. I thought it was a great use of his mind.
Can You Ride Tandem?
When the next bungeeists appeared from the north, Angry asked if we could hitch a lift to Bingie. One buzzed it would be no problem, and that they’d arrange for four tandem bungees to be used next time.
We packed up our gear, including a few spare spuds, and waited for our lifts. It was not long before four bungees appeared over the horizon.
It was a bit of a mad scramble, but we all got onto a bungee, and were soon flying through the air on our way to Bingie. It was only after I was on the bungee that I realised the pilot was a bee. And he was a very happy bee indeed. His obvious love for bungeeing was infectious, and I couldn’t wait to get bungeeing. It didn’t disappoint.
It was a truly exhilarating ride, and ended too quickly for my liking. We all landed beerilliantly in Bingie, and were as happy as Larry Bee. That was the name of my pilot.
‘Can you ride tandem?’ was a phrase used in a PG Tips advert starring bicycle-riding chimps in 1971.
Happy as Larry is an idiom meaning very happy; it is thought to have originated in Australia or New Zealand.
This episode has some new places, literature greats, pigeon small talk wordplay, satirical laughs and Oz interest, as the travel quest quartet leave the pigeons of Cooma and reach the Badga State Forest for a badger-Deliverance themed story…
The Coomageons put on a fine feast for us. We thanked them with full contented stomachs that rumbled no more. They sensed our satisfaction, and said it was the least they could do, after I’d shown the Coorowgeons the utmost respect.
We offered to do the dishes, but they would hear none of it. Patricia was eager to show us their library, which was open twenty-four hours a day. The Coomageons were very proud of the renowned local poet, Samuel Cooleridgeon, and one room was devoted entirely to his works. One of his most notable poems was called The Coomplaint of Ninathoma.
Tara to Cooma
At the end of the night, we were escorted to lofts they’d converted for us. They had done a grand job, and I couldn’t remember sleeping anywhere as coosy and coomfortable.
In the morning, they coooked us up a coolity local delicacy they call pigidge. It was oat so delicious. As we tucked in, I told Patricia how impressed I was with the loft. Her response was most humble; she said they had been working on them for many moons.
Yes, I suppose they had had a lot of time.
My mind split into two halves. One imagined the pigeons working on the lofts, and the other remembered notable events from our Ozyssey; times when I had never heard of Cooma, didn’t know where we were going, or if we’d survive.
Angry noticed I wasn’t eating and asked if I was alright. I thought it was a very perceptive use of his mind. I said, ‘Yes, Angry, never been better… as one half of the Greenygrey anyway.’ Angry laughed, and the others joined in.
Patricia said I had a ‘good sense of coomour.’ I laughed, and said she did too.
It was then time to say goodbye, and we left Cooma with a heavy heart and stomach. We could hear them cooing their farewells until we entered the Badja State Forest, and the chattering of badgers took over.
It was nice to walk through the thick forest at first, but then we reached a swamp, and it looked like it could get tricky. The dust sandy path was hardly visible at times, and we struggled to make much progress. I was contemplating asking the others if they could think of a quicker way through, when Angry said he could hear a banjo in the distance.
I thought he’d turned more crazy than angry for a minute, but it wasn’t long before we could all hear it. We followed the direction of the sound, and emerged into a clearing where we could see a badger picking at a banjo. Angry pulled out his bagpipes and started playing along, and they were soon raising the canopy with their badger blues beats.
Tara – slang for goodbye.
Obscure pigeon words: coolity – quality. coomour – humour. Samuel Coleridge (1772-1834) was a Romantic writer and poet. The Complaint of Ninathoma was one of his poems.
Badja State Forest is a real place.
