until just now reading the website World Atlas.
World Atlas: If visibility is less than 0.6 miles it is referred to as fog; if visibility is above 0.6 miles, it is called mist.
The first T-20 Y-day eve is upon us. It was quite some weather day too, with the mist turning up on the last day of its two-months part of mistYmuse, and then evaporating as the sun strengthened in the afternoon, as it’s supposed to do in Mist Evaporation Week (MEW) before a pinky POP (PinkyOrangePurple) sunset (as written in yesterday’s blog post, although the sun doesn’t really rise and fall as it looks to us, it does rise and set to us; they are all human concepts, along with solstices and equinoxes etc).
I didn’t know how I was going to celebrate it, and then thought of writing a poem containing twenty Ts! It only reached seven! So I wrote another one, which had twenty-two!! So, thinking of marketing, that’s nine bonus Ts, coloured in tawny, making it quite some T20 party… sure is where I wanna be x 3!!!
all was quiet
on Y-day eve morning
thick mist reminded one
of green(y-Y)grey dawning
not if ‘you’re’ travelling, my ‘self-ish’ thoughts unravelling
sun shone through
the sky turned blue
as if remembering Y-rise
a nice surprise

The song doesn’t have any message for or from me, and was just the music that came into my head as I wrote ‘time after’, mixed with Eminem, who I’ve cited before. Just watched the video, and amazed she does a T at the end. A fitting finale for the T20 party!!

Sighting the first UV 3 on the Met Office Leeds forecast today, March 22nd, made it a hat-trick of special weather days after mistYmuse (midwinter ideal sunrise times and midwinter until spring equinox) End Eve and Day on the 20th and 21st (the equinox was actually on the 20th this year, as it often is, alternating with the 21st).
When the UV gets up to 4s and 5s for several hours it’s more a warning then, against burning and skin cancer.
Now, for most people, it’s a chance to top up their Vitamin D after the winter, as it needs a certain strength of sunshine to provide vitamin D, and direct sunlight is the best source, although it is provided in smaller doses in some foods.
One of the tips for Vitamin D food sources such as mushrooms, as stated in James Wong’s How To Eat Better, is to leave them in sunlight, on a windowsill or something, so they absorb more from the sun before you eat them, and then you absorb the extra Vitamin D.
With a couple of hours of battery life, and feeling that he hadn’t created enough for a World Cup Rest Day, and with four days of World Cup double games days on the horizon, Marc Latham clunked out yet another Folding Mirror poem last night.
Blondie at Glastonbury
Hi, it’s Howlin’ Werewolf, satirical comedy music correspondent at the greenYgrey inspired by legendary Blues singer Howlin’ Wolf.
Marc wrote his poem while watching Blondie at Glastonbury on television, and thought they played a great set. I watched it too, and in addition to the classic old songs, I really liked the uplifting Mile High and the heavy metallish guitar and drum solos.

Glastonbury Weather
The greenYgrey justified its Glastonbury poster headlining status with a dramatic greatest hits set: producing thunder and lightning storms during the day, rainbows, and then a spectacular sunset in the evening.
Musical bands come and go, but the weather sings forever.
Mirror Poem Explanation
However, Marc Latham’s new mirror poem kind of takes the opposite view, in a greenYgrey kind of way, extolling the virtues of thought in creatures great and small; and how one thought by a small animal such as a mouse is better in that way than all the gigantic unthinking reactions in space.
In a greenYgrey way, human thoughts are the best and worse we know, but animals have a lot of nice and nasty ones too; with the former shown by their caring for each other.
Marc wrote on fmpoetry.wordpress.com that ‘the title and last line refers to a single thought of a small creature being superior in that way to great giant stars, which just work unthinkingly by thermonuclear reactions. The last line also plays on the British television series about a vet, All Creatures Great and Small. So although the universe is mindbogglingly massive, life as we know it on Earth is the best we know for thinking.’

New York is set to enjoy a beautiful weather weekend, but is prone to suffering from hurricanes in the summer and fall/autumn. Now, the city has innovated lots of new ideas and designs to help cope with the destructive storms, and I’m delighted to say that all twelve reported by David Nield in an MSN article had elements of the greenYgrey elements in them.
New York Storm Protection
Hi, it’s Wolf Whitzer, intrepid satirical comedy newshound at the greenYgrey inspired by CNN legend Wolf Blitzer.
A lot of the grey in the images could of course be considered positive or negative, with the weather natural or destructive, and the concrete protective or destructive. Moreover, the yellow in the images isn’t usually in line with the yellow promotion in the greenYgrey trying to bring a bright new sunny image.
As there’s twelve images on the MSN site, I thought six of the best would be a suitable number to import into the greenYgrey world, because six is half of twelve. Here they are:

The seasons don’t fight against each other, or argue about allotted times, but that’s because they are human constructions, and don’t really exist; although they are useful in dividing the ‘year’ into different weather patterns. In reality, our planet is just circling the centre of our solar system, because the ‘sun’ is controlling us with gravity.
Human Nature
Hi, this is William Wolfsworth, poetry correspondent at the Greenygrey inspired by legendary Romantic poet William Wordsworth. The second sentence of the introduction was about Marc Latham’s latest Folding Mirror poem, which was inspired by hot sunny weather in Blighty over the last few days. The first sentence was about Reflection 12 from his 242 Mirror Poems and Reflections book.
Here’s Reflection 12, followed by the newly imported from fmpoetry into the Greenygrey world seasonal mirror poem. As with most of the topics, it is an observation and comment on universal human nature, not inspired by anybody in particular.
Those who feel hard done by
often seem to want to get even
not necessarily with whoever
caused their upset
but with anybody
who’ll balance the books
return their equilibrium
as they see it
for the unloved to feel love
for the bullied to feel powerful
for the unlucky to feel lucky
for the poor to feel rich
for the insane to feel sane.
Spring or Summer, Sun flares Whenever
summer can’t arrive too soon

Hi, it’s Greenygrey. Happy Groundhog Day. North America has been celebrating Groundhog Day today, with groundhogs across the continent predicting the spring weather with their movement and whether they have a shadow or not.
If they have a shadow then cold weather is supposed to last another six weeks; while if it’s cloudy and they have no shadow the spring will come early.
Groundhog Day Movie and the Greenygrey
Groundhog Day was made internationally famous in 1993 when a film was released with that name. It featured a character played by Bill Murray waking to the same day every day.
Days at the Greenygrey are like a cross between the traditional Groundhog Day and the film. Here are some of the similarities:
The groundhog day tradition is thought to have been inspired by old pagan festivals such as Imbolc. So Happy Imbolc too.
Hi, it’s Greenygrey. While we would ideally like to see a republic or return of pagan royalty, we think the Queen has done a grand job overall, and so she should enjoy her Diamond Jubilee after 60 years of diligent service.
Queen’s Successes and Limits
Queen Elizabeth II has also helped prevent a President Thatcher or President Blair, and King Charles should prevent a President Cameron. I think we should have the right to vote though. Kate has also been a fantastic recent addition to the family.
While we’re sorry that the weather has been mostly grey for all the people out and about celebrating, we think it might be good in some ways, to prevent royalty’s most fanatical supporters from thinking the royal family have some kind of direct line to God, and therefore receive favourable weather.

Diamond Jubilee Woods: 60 new Forests to Celebrate
This celebration is special to us because sixty new woods have been planted around Britain to celebrate the occasion. The Jubilee Woods project should help Britain remain greenygrey rather than grey in the future.
We also like the Woodland Trust’s Jubilee Woods map, showing Britain in glorious greenygrey, with the green landscape above grey rock foundations.
